Remember the old hang out spot in the San Fernando Valley?

The Icon of Bob's Big Boy
By: Kenny Melcombe
Way back when, Bob’s used to be the hang out after football games at Granada Hills High School. Now, that location is a Carrow’s Restaurant and Bob’s has disappeared. But not to worry my reminiscent double decker burger eaters, Bob’s Big Boy Restaurants are back and reopening in a franchised style all over the United States. Prior to reopening, the restaurants were all owned and operated by Bob Wian as another oversized corporation. Now, finally, Bob’s is back with a more client focused feel.
The Northridge Big Boy’s grand opening was September 14, 2009 and the other local restaurant beside the famous Burbank location on Riverside is Sunland location at 8274 Sunland Blvd. According to our waiter, expect to see Bob’s popping up all over in the next few years. Most pertinent is the West Hills location opening in 2010.
If the nostalgia of the Hot Fudge Cake, The Bob’s Big Boy Combo, or the best chocolate shakes is getting to you, Big Boy’s is finally back and as good as the late nights from years ago. Bob’s even has a great Veggie Burger and it’s actually tasty! Walking in the door at first maybe a little time consuming, (about a 20-30 minute wait) but well worth it for the Bob’s Original special sauce.
If you find yourself roaming Northridge, drive right over to 8876 Corbin Av. on the corner of Nordhoff Street (south) in the Target/Kohl’s shopping center and reminisce the days at Bob’s.
